Gardening is often an important and meaningful activity for older people. In addition to providing opportunities for social contact, organised horticultural activities promote health, well being and memory. This course provides you with the knowledge and practical skills required to develop and adapt a programme of therapeutic horticultural activity to groups of older people with diverse needs. It covers a wide range of impairments such as dementia, sight loss and stroke and will address important concepts such as rehabilitation, recovery and quality of like that help older people age well.
