21st September 2018 01452 383333 Ellen Winter

Cost: £125

Sectors: ecology, conservation & wildlife

Join Mick Peacey, a dormouse county expert who has been involved with GWT’s Siccaridge Wood Nature Reserve for over 20 years, and Alan Sumnall the reserve manager and experienced dormouser. Both have worked extensively surveying for Siccaridge Wood’s dormice and will be using their expert knowledge to teach those looking to gain their own dormouse licence.

The course will enable the attendees to be trained in dormouse ecology and conservation, learning a broad range of skills that are needed to become a licensed dormouse handler.

The first part of the day will be an introduction and presentation on the ecology and conservation of dormice. This will also include identifying nuts opened by dormice and other small mammals. In the afternoon we will visit GWT's Siccaridge Wood nature reserve to look at the practical side of dormouse monitoring.
