Assistant Stockperson/Warden

Ideally we are looking for someone who has experience of working with livestock, competent when working with machinery, has tractor driving qualifications and is interested in nature and it’s conservation. Training can be provided for keen applicants who do not possess all the requirements.

Daily checks and movements of up to 800 head of cattle, worming and treating animals as necessary. The site is 2000 acres, most of it is grazed, there is regular maintenance and improvement of fencing and cattle handling facilities required. Tractor topping of thistles and grassland is a large part of the job, there are numerous smaller tasks including the opportunity to carry out bird surveys. Responsible to the site manager, the post holder usually works alone but also as part of a small experienced team when required. Some weekend working is necessary.
