Thomson Habitats was formed as an offshoot of our sister company Thomson Ecology in response to the need for an ecological contractor who would have a sensitivity to the sometimes conflicting demands of project progress, relevant legislation and ecological considerations. Whereas Thomson Ecology focuses on surveys and consultancy, Thomson Habitats carries out the practical realisation of ecological projects.
The need for our services is driven by conservation and wildlife legislation and planning policy as well as international agreements on species and habitat protection and biodiversity. Our aim is to help balance the demands of the need for development on the one hand and the need for conservation and the interest of the natural world on the other. Our clients include major developers and engineering and ecology consultancies, utilities companies, planners, landscape architects and local and national government.
