Manager, Investor Engagement, CDP

CDP is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for sustainability and its relevance in the financial process. Working closely with the Head of Investor Initiatives and the global investor team, you will be involved in thought leadership projects that will align the financial services with the delivery of a well below 2-degree world and will represent CDP internationally in delivering its mission. You will have split responsibilities between managing our existing UK signatory relationships and prospecting for and building new ones, as well as managing the outputs and deliverables of the investor project officer team. With the overall aim of expanding and increasing signatories use of CDP’s climate, water and forest data and involvement in CDP investor initiatives.

The Investor Initiatives team builds support for corporate disclosure on environmental factors by financial service stakeholders, manages investor initiatives and identifies and develops tools and products to enable investors to integrate environmental factors into their investment processes, engage with investee companies and report on the outcomes of these activities. CDP’s signatories span the world’s financial service stakeholders covering banks, insurers, asset managers and asset owners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engage and develop business relationships with key decision makers (client and prospect)
  • Coordinate the recruitment of signatories to CDP and the income derived from this. With focus on driving increased signatory numbers and engagement with CDP initiatives
  • Generate revenue through investor memberships, sponsorship, new products and services including coordination of data sales partnerships to ensure global coherence to pricing and offerings
  • Coordinating the global messaging to our signatories and non-signatories within the investor sphere to ensure a coherent international voice
  • Thought leadership on global engagement for the investor program, including the development of new products
  • Managing and maintaining existing UK signatory base and prospect for new ones, ensuring CDP meets its commercial objectives
  • Oversee the accurate recording and updating of UK signatory contacts on CDP’s CRM
  • Maintain a solid grasp of the responsible investment marketplace and use of environmental data in financial products and services
  • Understand and master the scope of CDP’s product and service offerings for its intended marketplace
  • Convening and organizing investor roundtables, workshops and other events

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in client relationship management
  • 2 years’ experience of managing a small team
  • Financial services client management and sales experience highly preferred
  • Understanding of investment processes and experience within the financial sector
  • Understanding of the materiality of climate, water and forests issues to the investment process and tools to reduce negative impacts on these
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills and a desire to seek out speaking and networking opportunities
  • Strong cold calling skills and determination to achieve targets
  • A flexible but diligent working style, with proven record of working within a team
  • A sense of urgency in tackling the climate crisis

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office with national and international travel requirements.

Salary and benefits: £45,000 - £50,000 per annum, annual discretionary bonus, 24 days’ holiday (increasing to 30), generous non-contributory pension provision, life assurance and others.
