Gwent Wildlife Trust is seeking to recruit a full-time Woodland Reserves Officer, working within the Usk to Wye Living Landscape team, to take on the responsibility of managing a small suite of woodland nature reserves, and develop and oversee engagement opportunities within these sites.

The post holder will undertake practical woodland management, sometimes with the use of machinery, carry out relevant species and habitat surveys and monitoring, generate income from woodland products and offer advice to private woodland owners, amongst other things. We are looking for applicants who are experienced at managing woodlands for conservation, can teach others about woodland ecology, are physically fit and able to work on difficult terrain, have experience in felling trees, are competent in the use of a range of powered equipment and have experience of working with volunteers, groups or involving others in nature conservation.

Salary: £21,327 - £23,463 pa depending on experience
