Do you love the natural world? Do you want to be part of an organisation that is fighting to save it? If you thrive working with the public then this role may be for you. An opportunity to be part of a passionate, dedicated and driven team of staff and volunteers, all working to "give nature a home" has arisen. The RSPB is Europe's biggest wildlife charity. At RSPB Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve, we pride ourselves in connecting people from all walks of life, to nature, whether it's by providing a great day out, or inspiring them to join the RSPB.

As the Community Engagement Officer at RSPB Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve, you would be leading the reserve team in the delivery of the membership recruitment target. You will also be responsible for ensuring visitors have a great experience in the visitor centre and leave feeling that nature is an important part of their own lives.

You will do all this by using your community engagement skills and by enthusing your team of volunteers. Recruiting and managing volunteers to assist you in your goals is a large part of this role. You will encourage them to engage with visitors to the reserve, inspiring people about the work of the RSPB and persuading them to support the charity through a regular donation.

We are looking for someone who is extremely enthusiastic, outgoing and self-motivated, as well as being a dynamic individual who will be creative, persuasive and fun. You will need to be able to think on your feet and communicate with a variety of personalities and interests to guide conversations towards RSPB membership. There is no need to be an expert on wildlife but having a passion and basic knowledge would be an advantage. Being part of our team will mean you are making a difference to nature & to people every day.

By joining our enthusiastic and passionate reserve team, you will receive full and continued training necessary for the role, including learning about current campaigns such as Giving Nature a Home and Saving Nature. This job will require regular weekend working and attending occasional external events.

If you believe you are the right person for this exciting and rewarding role we look forward to receiving your application.

Please tell us about your skills, knowledge and experience. We don’t just want to know what you’ve done. We want to know how you did it and how that shows to us that you can successfully combine the key elements of this exciting role.
