CDP is looking for a motivated Senior Project Officer in our Cities, States and Regions Team based in our London headquarters, reporting to the Operations Manager.

About this role:

Specifically, this role will include recruiting state and regional governments to participate in our states and regions programme; supporting these governments in preparing and submitting their annual disclosures; conducting analysis on data received and launching an analytics and benchmarking tool for disclosing governments; providing updates to programme partners and funders; managing the data reporting for the Compact of States and Regions / the Under2 Coalition and RegionsAdapt; establishing and managing direct relationships with governments and partner organisations; supervising the research initiative on Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (black carbon, methane, etc) in partnership with the Climate and Clean Air Coalition (United Nations Environment Programme), preparing and delivering webinars, and making presentations about the programme.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Grow CDP’s states and regions programme and support the climate change reporting process for states and regions;
  • Enable high response rates and ensure high data quality among disclosing governments by providing support, encouragement and expertise;
  • Launch a new data analytics platform in collaboration with a wider project team (data analyst, IT, external service provider, etc)
  • Conduct data analysis to enable state and regional governments to benchmark themselves against peers;
  • Engage with partner organisations and policy-makers in state, regional and national governments;
  • Manage raw data and ensure data quality;
  • Use and master IT systems including CRM to ensure the most efficient use of resources possible;
  • Ensure timely and high quality project deliverables; and
  • Prepare (data-based) reports, white papers, blogs and other updates on progress for key stakeholders and manage their publication.

Required skills and experience:

  • A minimum of two years working in a sustainability field for a corporate, governmental or non-governmental organisation and have an understanding of sub-national action on climate change;
  • Strong data analysis skills and an excellent grasp of Excel;
  • An interest and ability to develop expertise in the issues of greenhouse gas reduction, adaptation to climate change, and the role of the public sector;
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills;
  • Experience in managing projects and ensuring project goals are met;
  • Self-motivation and an ability to take the initiative;
  • A positive and enthusiastic outlook even while working under pressure; and
  • Attention to detail while being able to see the big picture and commitment to achieving high standards that meet or exceed project requirements.

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience working with advanced analytics or business intelligence solutions, such as Zoho Analytics, especially for publication
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft SharePoint advantageous; and,
  • Fluency in one or more language other than English.

This is a full-time role based at CDP’s Central London office.

Salary and benefits: Salary will be 24-27,000 GBP per year (depending on experience), fixed term contract of 12 months, with the possibility to extend it based on the availability of funding.
