The University of Greenwich is widely recognised for its sustainability best practice and we are looking for a highly effective new member of our team to help us make even further improvements. The university has over 20,000 students, 1,800 staff and 3 campuses within SE London and Kent. These include historic, listed buildings through to our cutting edge BREEAM Excellent rated Stockwell Street building.

The Sustainable Development Unit has the role of helping integrate sustainability best practice throughout the operations and activities of the institution. This includes strategy, estates & facilities, education, research, communications and community engagement. We work with all levels to ensure sustainability is effectively embedded in decision making and actions which is illustrated in the many awards and accolades we have won.

The Sustainability Projects Officer is an important role. Its main focus is to manage, maintain and improve our sustainability management system (ISO 14001). The scope of our sustainability management system (SMS) covers Estates & Facilities operations and there is the intention of expanding it over the coming years. The SMS is a key driver for enabling best practice and forms a foundation for our sustainability strategy. The role will work on other projects usually in collaboration with other team members and university staff. These include, for example, work with academics to help integrate sustainability into their teaching, working on behaviour change programmes for staff and students and a range of other exciting projects throughout the university.

We are seeking applicants with ambition, creativity and drive. They will need to be able to learn quickly and deliver solutions according to the needs of our stakeholders. The successful applicant will illustrate the ability to engage and motivate staff at all levels to help them understand the importance of sustainability to deliver the drivers important for a successful future focused university.
