Essex Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity. It has more than 35,800 members, manages and protects over 8,400 acres of land on 87 nature reserves and 2 nature parks and runs 11 visitor centres. The aim of Essex Wildlife Trust is to Protect Wildlife for the Future and for the People of Essex. It is supported financially by members, local businesses and grant making organisations. It is one of the largest of the 47 county wildlife trusts that work together throughout the British Isles as The Wildlife Trusts.

We have an opportunity at Abbotts Hall Farm for the post of River Wardens Assistant. The successful applicant will work 16 hours per week across two days.

Responsibilities involve supporting a growing network of volunteer River Wardens across Essex by:

  • Delivering RiverFly and other biological survey and monitoring initiatives
  • Organising and supporting training in river surveys, pollution monitoring, H&S, invasive species ID and other events
  • Monitoring and updating the Essex Rivers Hub website and answering River Warden enquires and requests
  • Collating information and administering the River Warden scheme

This is a fixed term contract for 24 months, working 16 hours per week.
