Located on the Lancashire coast, with Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District nearby, the Borough of Wyre is an area of great contrasts and includes urban areas, seaside resorts, a port, traditional market towns and picturesque villages within an extensive rural area that includes parts of the Forest of Bowland (an area of outstanding natural beauty) and the Morecambe Bay European Marine Site.

We are looking to recruit a Site Ranger to support the Council in the delivery of its Biodiversity Duty, in particular with regard to Coastal and Estuary sites.

The post holder will provide uniformed presence through regular patrolling of Council owned or managed outdoor visitor facilities, protected areas, recreational areas, promoted routes and public rights of way to ensure high standards are maintained.

With a relevant professional qualification in Coast and Countryside practical land management, the post holder will be an excellent communicator with a good understanding of biodiversity in relation to Wyre. Previous experience in leading small teams of volunteers and youth groups will be essential.

Due to the nature of the post a driving licence is essential. Weekend working will be essential.

The successful candidate will be asked to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service which will be paid for by the employer.
