A one day introduction to the Forest School approach. Take part in a Forest School style experience where you will be introduced to the ethos and benefits of Forest School as well as getting hands on experience with typical activities.

We will look at the approach to risk management that is an integral part of the process, for both leaders and children.

Our Forest School Experience Day aims to inspire you to follow your interests and consider how ideas could relate to your setting.

We will introduce aspects of Forest School:

  • Ethos and benefits of forest school
  • Understanding and managing risk
  • Creativity & exploration: learning through child led play
  • Reflection and progression….
  • …..All through a series of example activities which are fun and inspiring.

This course is a fully immersive experience that will give you ideas and suggestions for engaging children at your setting or school with the outdoors and nature.

Is this course for me?
This course is ideal for pre-school leaders, teachers or any individual interested in finding out more about Forest School, especially if considering doing certified training.

When and where?
Saturday 4 February 2017 - 10am to 4pm

Testwood Lakes, Totton

What do I need to bring?

  • Appropriate outdoor clothing for the weather on the day
  • Sturdy, comfortable footwear (walking boots or wellies)
  • Packed lunch

Hot drinks will be provided.


Grace Hall - Education Officer Testwood Lakes

Grace is a Forest School Leader of 5 years, and environmental educator of 12 years, working with groups of a range of ages, backgrounds and abilities. She is a full time Education Officer based at Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve, which is managed by the Hampshire IOW Wildlife Trust.
